STAbaby's Review of Holosun HS503GU-FDE

I was lead to this product by another friend in my community. I will start by saying I am not new to RDS's, and have a host of optics ranging from Aimpoint, EOTech, Trijicon, Burris, Bushnell, Leupold, Vortex...and now Holosun. If it was not for he reccomendation from a trusted friend, I would have never loked at this line of sights.

Upon recipit, I looked the sight over well. It is a very well built and finished product. I couldnt help but think, how is this so similar to my Aimpoints in appearance and specs. Same battery life, mounting options, size, and intensity of reticle/dot illumination.

Mounting was a breeze, and the see through mount is great for lower set back up iron sights. Moot point for co-wittness, but still a nice and clean appearance, and reduced weight.

After mounting, it zeroed like any other RDS I have ever used. Boresight, initial group, adjust, and repeat until POA/POI is achieved. The caps even double as a tool for adjusting...just like the Aimpoint.

After zeroing both sights (one on an PTR9C/MP5 Clone, and the other on a 10.5" AR15), they both recieved well over 500rds. The zero never shifted at any point. The MP5 was fired out to 50m, and the AR15 out past 300m. This sigh did exceptionally well.

The nice features about this optic is its overall compatability with other poular mount on the market, the adjusteble sight (dot or ring combo), its compact nature, "Shake Awake technology that works flawlwssly, the controls nad buttonology of theis optic are very simple and user friendly, and a battery life that is amazing...not to mention, you can replacee the batter without dismounting the optic.

All in all, this is an incredible optic at any price point and I am not sure if I will ever buy another $700 RDS ever again, with options like this on the market.

  • compact
  • long battery life
  • very durable
  • Shake awake
  • User Friendly/Buttonology
  • Battery Can Be Replaced without Dismounting
  • Dot or Circle/Dot Combo Reticle
  • Water, Fog & Dust Proof

  • Limited Submersion Depth (1m)
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • shooting
  • Personal Defense
