Underrated - Holosun HS510C 1x0.91-1.2in Open Reflex Red Dot Sight

To give some clarity of my perspective I will say I am writing this review as a military veteran who has used several optics both in service and in my civilian life.

First thing I like about this optic more than anything else is the long battery life that is right up there with aimpoint optics I've been issued and owned. Second thing high on my list of things I like is the sight picture. I've owned eotech's and to be honest I hated them, I hated how the reticle was grainy and pixilated. You get the same reticle as an eotech without the awful grainy reticle. But it doesn't end there if you want just a red dot like an aimpoint you have that too and if you're feeling really weird you have just the ring reticle without the red dot in the center of it.

Build quality given the country of origin (china) is right up there with every other top end optic out there for what I need.

The only area I would ding this in is that it is barely NVG compatible. It can be made to work but it is not ideal but that's okay. The reality is 98% of the people reading this review are not going to be shooting in darkness with NVG's anyways including myself.

It's fantastic for just about any sort of situation you will be using it for aside from longer range shooting in which case you could shoehorn a magnifier behind it but being real you'll be better served with a dedicated scope for that kind of shooting anyways.

Normally I'm leery of products from China for a lot of reason's but I have to be honest and say this thing is really as good as everyone says it is. Even better the solar panel on it ensures that even if you forgot to change the battery out 2 - 5 years down the road (depending on what setting you leave it on) it will still function and the only other place you will get that is with tritium or fiber optic sights (of which I've also owned.)

It's everything I want in a reflex style dot optic for a good price someone who works for a living can afford.

The buttons on it are also in a good position, give a positive response when pressing them instead of a mushy spongey feeling like an eotech I had in the past and it's easy to jump around behind different settings.

The real other big thing about this optic for me is the fact it has a motion sensing capability built into it so you can just leave it on and when needed it will activate on its own, no need to press any buttons or turn it on.

All in all the features as a package will meet and exceed your needs and I can't recommend it enough. It won't break the bank for the average person and it also doesn't weigh a whole solid pound like another optic I owned that cost 2x as much and had a smaller sight picture.
