Good for one ready rifle to keep away from kids - nothing mote - Hornady RAPiD Safe AR Gunlocker

Good: bought to keep my ready rifle out of the hands of kids. If this is your aim, it works fine.

Bad: IF this is your ONLY locker for your only security weapon, I would ask you why. Why would you go to the trouble of having a home defense rifle which you deemed necessary only to stow it behind a Chinese made locker that has elementary electronics at best keeping the opening mechanism functional? I am a huge Hornady fanboy ammo consumer so I bought a little into the brand on this and had higher build quality hopes.

Also, IF this is used upright on carpet you must make a spacer for it to keep the flush mounted door high enough off the carpet to not rub against it during opening. I made mine out of a black bookshelf from Home Depot and affixed it with double sided tape which worked and blended in.

Also, you are NOT likely to fasten screws through all mounting holes (mounting hardware not included) through the side of the safe to wall studs due to the dimensions of the holes.

Power cord is barely long enough to reach an extension cord once routed through the safe. The cord goes in the safe, runs along the inside and affixes to the door which opens and could possible get snagged during use. IF you use the battery option keep in mind you must "wake up" the unit by hitting a button first before you use the rfid.

The locking mechanism is louder than most quick action safes but the push buttons can be silenced.

Fits one scoped AR15, will not accommodate a second scoped rifle. Two small optic rifles may fit.

Again, good option that is superior to biometric lockers but even the below MSRP street price of the unit is pushing it in my opinion for yet another Chinese made variant that matches the types of similar competitors found in this range. Comes shipped with a huge AR and safe picture on the box. If this might sit in your doorstep all day long your whole neighborhood will know you have guns.
