Growing up in the Deep South, we either basically used a 30-06, .270 or 30-30 and killed a lot of deer. Two seasons ago I bought a Savage Axis .243 for my grandson, but he’s still too small. So I used it for a full season. I limited out here and in MS with it. I shot many deer, and the farthest they ran was straight down. This included 2 that weighed over 200 lbs. The ammo is devastating.
