Great and terrible at the same time. - Irish Setter VaprTrek 3817 Hunting Boots - Men's

These boots at extremely light weight and comfortable for having 1200 grams of insulation. I would even consider them light compared to many uninsulated boots. They basically required zero break in time. I determined after the first hike that I wouldn’t need to use them anymore before my hunting trip, they feel that good. They only issue, and it’s a big issue, is the waterproofing or lack of waterproofing I should say. I had read some reviews prior to buying these mentioning subpar waterproofing, and the boot absorbing moisture from the outside but I was hopeful. They worked fine in light snow, but it’s was extremely dry snow and about 12 degrees out so not much moisture. However the 1 time I attempted to walk the edge of a swamp through sponge moss, I almost immediately felt the instead of the toe and the upper heel area get wet inside the boot. This was a slow walk and I was not standing with the boots submerged. No one wants wet feet when they are far from home in cold weather. I would rate these 5 stars if it wasn’t for the waterproofing issues which is a huge issue in my opinion. I even tried some high end breathable membrane waterproofing spray which did not seem to help. Sizing is accurate on the length, but slightly tight on the width. Get wides if you plan on wearing insulated socks.
