The butt plate is a solid plate that adds a little length the butt stock. Is mad of two metal pieces one attaches to the section where the original butt pad was next the adjustable metal plat is positioned in the orientation that you wish and screw in to place as not to move and then the rubber butt pad in attached. So once installed there is a little work need if you wish to move it to a new position. But it provides a comfort for any specific angle of shooting that you may have.
I love it and will get one for my other rifle.
