Nate's Review of Legion Targets AR500 Steel Dueling Tree Target

First, Although it said the delivery was out several weeks, I got mine in less than a week.

The cons - I wasn't terribly impressed with the packaging - Didn't seem to be very secure in the box, and the box was a little torn up (could have been from shipping), but everything was there.

My first impression was that this is HEAVY. Compared to a lot that I have shot in the past, this was stout. I set it up in the living room and everything fit together well. Seemed like it would hold up pretty good, but my experience with targets has been that after a few rounds, and possibly a few misses (from my kids of course) that it would end up just like the rest of them in the corner of the garage.

We set up with me on one side shooting a 7.62 and my son on the other shooting a .223 I'm not going to tell you who won, but it was way fun. The initial inspection didn't show any damage to the target other than the stickers which you would expect. Then we shot pistols, hunting rifles (.300 WSM, 7MM) and everything else we had at it. Still didn't poke any holes in it. We were very impressed with how the hinge mechanism was protected and with how well it took a few of the off center shots ;)

I've shot the target on 4 occasions now and other than cosmetic damage, the target still performs great! The only issue we have had was that a couple of times when you hit the target it would flip to the other side and then flipped back without being hit again. It was only a few times but it would be nice if there was something to prevent it from doing that since I'm pretty sure that is the only way my son won the round :)

It is quickly becoming one of the favorites and certainly a favorite of the boys. No reservations on recommending this to anyone. Even though I probably only have close to 1000 rounds on it, it looks like it's going to hold up just fine.
