Chuck's Review of Kaw Valley Precision AR-15 Gas Block Dimpling Jig

I've done at least three barrels with this jig, so the review that says it's only good for one and then its disposable is inaccurate. The other review that says one set of holes lines up and the others are off might have gotten a blem, but mine are not visibly off center and if one set of holes lines up then that's all you really need. You don't want to place two dimples in most cases anyway. If you do, you are stuck with that particular gas block, or you've got to find another one with the same spacing. You just dimple the one hole below the gas port. Tighten one set screw into the dimple to keep it in place and tighten the other set screw against the undimpled barrel. Now you can swap out gas blocks as you wish (upgrade, different style, adjustable, etc.) and they will all line up perfectly. So, for the money, this dimple jig is fine. It does the job and I've had no problems with it on any of the three barrels I've dimpled. I do have the SLR for my .875 journals and I like it better, but not enough to buy their .750 dimple jig when this one works just fine.
Pros:
  • cost
Cons:
  • it's basic, but it works
Best Used for:
  • making one dimple only
