Does the job. Not sure why people are having a hard time with this one.
I've done at least three barrels with this jig, so the review that says it's only good for one and then its disposable is inaccurate. The other review that says one set of holes lines up and the others are off might have gotten a blem, but mine are not visibly off center and if one set of holes line...

Read the Fine Print. Spot Drill Bit Not Included.
The jig works as advertised, but I was disappointed that Kaw Valley's .625 dimpling jig did NOT include a 5/32 spot drill bit. I previously purchased their .750 jig and the proper spot drill bit was included. It worked perfectly. I assumed it would be included with this smaller jig as well... But no...

Dimple Your Barrels! This Makes It Easy!
This jig works well to make a much-needed dimple in your barrels. It makes the process of installing a set-screw gas block foolproof by ensuring the dimples are perfectly aligned, which gives me peace of mind knowing the gas block isn't going to shift or come loose under heavy use. The material is durable, holds up well to drilling, and saves a significant amount of time and frustration compared to measuring manually. Highly recommended for any DIY builder.
Pros:
- Easy to use for beginners and pros
Cons:
- None; it does exactly what it is designed to do.
Best Used for:
- Ensuring a secure, stress-free barrel assembly
Would recommend: Yes
Good Tool - Check Compatibility
I bought a set of these Dimpling Jigs to try and make life easier when installing gas blocks. My first attempt was for the Faxon patented adjustable gas block. Being a somewhat new armorer, I didn't realize the Faxon had a 3 set screw set up that didn't match up with the jig. I was able to use the jig to drill the first dimple hole, which is inline with the gas port. The next gas block I did was mil-spec and it worked great. The jig made life easy and I have the added protection of running my set screws into dimpled holes.
Pros:
- Ease Of Use
- Value & Quality
Cons:
- universal fitment means its not perfect for any gun
Would recommend: Yes
Easy and precise
This tool makes it easy to install dimples for your gas block. I would recommend removing all screws so that you can confirm that the screw for the gas block is already aligned.
Pros:
- easy and inexpensive
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- builders
Would recommend: Yes
Works great. does it’s job
This tool works exactly like it is supposed to. All I can say is measure your space between your holes and make sure they are what you need. I drilled 2 holes on one barrel for a gas block with 2 set screws. I then bore scoped it to make sure my gas ports lined up correctly and they were perfect. I also had to dimple a barrel where I had to install an adjustable gas block with 3 set screws. This jig only lets you do has blocks with 2 screws. That being said you really only need to drill out that first hole directly under the gas port for any gas block to work. That way it will stay where you need it. You do need to go out and buy a 5/32 drill bit because this jig does not come with one (cost me $9). I recommend a carbide drill bit to make sure it cuts the metal on your barrel. Also the holes to guide the drill bit are a little tight.

Kaw Valley Precision Gas Block Dimpling Jig
Worked great and the dimple came out perfect, for the price it should have included the drill bit required, as I've seen others for less $ that do include it.

Kaw Valley .625 dimple jig
Works great on all .625 gas block journal barrels. I use superlative arms gas blocks and their spacing is .500 I learned this as another site recommended a gas jig with that block and sent me a .375 jig for a .500 spread. That was my first run at using a jig. This jig works on almost any size spread you could think of plus locks in either at the existing dimple or off the gas port itself. Fast and easy.
Pros:
- 1 jig any gas block in that barrel journal
Cons:
- No 5/32 drill bit
Best Used for:
- Dimpling new barrels w/.625 gas journal
Would recommend: Yes

Easy to use. Sizing for most .625 gas blocks. It can be used both to dimple from gas port or existing port dimple.
Pros:
- Works on most .625 sized barrels to dimple for gas blocks.
Cons:
- No bit included
Best Used for:
- .625 barrels

Great Tool
If you want to dimple your barrel quick and easy on your own, this is the tool for you. I watched a quick YouTube tutorial video on how to use it (not completely necessary, I was just being through). I bought the .750 and the .625, within the week, every AR in the family had a dimpled barrel. I used a hand drill, and it only took a couple of minutes for each barrel. Overall, a great purchase and would recommend.
