Colby Alves's Review of Kensight Ruger SR1911 Adjustable Tritium Night Sight Set

I'm not sure what Ruger SR1911 the rear sight is for, but it's definitely not for a stock Ruger SR1911 made by Ruger. Ruger uses Novak sights which are 0.470" on the left of the dovetail and 0.475" on the right. This sight is 0.347" on both sides of it's dovetail. Everything else about the sight looks fine, but if it can't be mounted on the gun there's really no point. Filling the dovetail voids their warranty, so they don't seem to want a gunsmith to add a filler block to mount it. If you have a Ruger SR1911 with non-Novak sights maybe this will work for you, but don't think that just because this sight is specifically for a stock Ruger SR1911 that it will even be remotely close to fitting your stock SR1911. The 1 star they do earn is for the front sight. That was made by someone who measured the gun. You might have to mill the frame slightly due to a slight overhang on the rear of the front sight, but that's not uncommon with Tritium sights. The need the extra length to accommodate the Tritium tube.
Pros:
  • Adjustments feel alright and would probably keep zero if actually subjected to recoil. The Tritium is bright enough for pitch black conditions and the paint colors help with rapid sight alignment.
Cons:
  • It's literally impossible to employ any of the Pros if you can't mount the sight.
Best Used for:
  • A gun where the widest part of the rear dovetail is 0.347" or less.
