Andrew's Review of Kinetic Development Group SIDELOK Universal Scope Riser

After testing nearly all the riser options on the market for my EOTech XPS2, I am confident that the Kinetic Development Group SIDELOK Universal Scope Riser is one of the most innovative and reliable optic risers on the market today.

The standout features of this riser include the effortless quick-detach mechanism; The SIDELOK system is a game-changer. Just slide it onto your rail, and it automatically locks in—no tools, no levers, no problems. It’s equally easy to remove with a simple press of the release tabs. Ideal for users who need to switch optics or remove mounts frequently. A lot of mount companies claim theirs “hold-zero” but I’ve found that isn’t true most of the time. I put this one to the test and can confirm KDG’s claims are correct… it holds zero every time. I was impressed with the tank-like build quality. It is machined from high-grade aluminum and finished with hard coat anodizing; this riser can take a beating, and I certainly put it through the ringer. It locks up tight under recoil and maintains alignment under all conditions. Raising your optic approximately 0.63 inches, it provides the perfect platform for shooting with NODs or just from a more natural “heads-up” position. Despite its rugged capabilities, the SIDELOK riser maintains a clean, low-profile appearance. It adds function without unnecessary bulk or weight. Customers should understand that the price tag on this riser is well worth the extra expense compared to basic riser options as you are paying for high-end engineering, tool-less convenience, and return-to-zero reliability. It’s an investment in performance.

A couple of things to consider (but not dealbreakers): The SIDELOK mechanism is very intuitive once you’ve used it a few times. If you’re used to traditional QD levers, this may feel different at first—but it quickly becomes second nature. Another point of note, this riser is solid rather than ultra-light. If shaving grams is your top priority, there may be lighter options—but few match the SIDELOK’s strength and repeatability.

Bottom Line: If you want a no-compromise scope riser that offers fast removal, rock-solid repeatability, and top-tier construction, the KDG SIDELOK delivers. It’s ideal for serious shooters who want gear they can trust. Highly recommended.
