Outstanding Mounting Solution for Serious Users

by Andrew, Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on May 5, 2025
After testing nearly all the riser options on the market for my EOTech XPS2, I am confident that the Kinetic Development Group SIDELOK Universal Scope Riser is one of the most innovative and reliable optic risers on the market today.

The standout features of this riser include the effortless quick-detach mechanism; The SIDELOK system is a game-changer. Just slide it onto your rail, and it automatically locks in—no tools, no levers, no problems. It’s equally easy to remove with a simple press of the release tabs. Ideal for users who need to switch optics or remove mounts frequently. A lot of mount companies claim theirs “hold-zero” but I’ve found that isn’t true most of the time. I put this one to the test and can confirm KDG’s claims are correct… it holds zero every time. I was impressed with the tank-like build quality. It is machined from high-grade aluminum and finished with hard coat anodizing; this riser can take a beating, and I certainly put it through the ringer. It locks up tight under recoil and maintains alignment under all conditions. Raising your optic approximately 0.63 inches, it provides the perfect platform for shooting with NODs or just from a more natural “heads-up” position. Despite its rugged capabilities, the SIDELOK riser maintains a clean, low-profile appearance. It adds function without unnecessary bulk or weight. Customers should understand that the price tag on this riser is well worth the extra expense compared to basic riser options as you are pa...

Most Helpful Positive Review Awesome product
This is an awesome product, best quick release riser I have ever used, it goes back to zero every single time, it comes off and on very easy, and like I said goes right back to zero, it's a little expensive but worth the money, I have two, one on my AR 15, and one on my M&P 15/22 sport awesome prod...

Most Helpful Negative Review doea not work with uh1
good concept but it doesnt work with anything. tried to attach my uh1 and no matter how nuch i loosen the qd it would not go on. it could be that the rails on the riser were out of spec. i would have loved to use since i found it more aesthetic than the unity risers.

Raise it up

by Bobby, Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on April 6, 2025
Got this to raise up my Eotech XPS 2. Now when I bring my rifle up I am not lowering my cheek and find the red dot faster. I also have one for my Trijicon MRO.

Easy and functional.

by TZ23, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on January 11, 2024
Purchased one to set a Romeo8T on top of and it's been pretty stellar.

No loss of zero after several hundred rounds and being removed a dozen or so times. Quick and easy, seems to be made of quality materials as well.
Pros:
  • Works, Simple, Zero Maintained
Cons:
  • Expensive

*DOES NOT HOLD ZERO WITH .556*

by Greg, from UT, United States Written on August 11, 2023
I was extremely excited about this product, paying a heavy premium I would expect the thing to do the one thing that it’s supposed to do. I was driving myself crazy at the range today, bore sighting shooting a few rounds to not be able to hit anything checking bore sight again and it being WAY off. I notice setting it up in a vice I can see movement just by pushing the scope with my hand. Super disappointing. Have no idea why there are so many positive reviews, either they put it on guns that stay indoors and don’t get used or I got a bad batch. The idea and design is very cool, if it worked it would be awesome but I can’t have it on my gun just to look pretty, it needs to be able to hold zero.
Pros:
  • Makes gun look cool
Cons:
  • everything else
Best Used for:
  • Airsoft

strong product

by Combat trucker, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on August 16, 2020
- strong construction
- easy install
- some optics with this will have 1/3 cowitness and others would be slightly higher than that but nothing extreme. Perfect for not breaking your neck on AR
- easy to quick detatch. Perfect for scopes.
- you can beat this riser up and it won't break.
Pros:
  • Clean & Streamlined.
  • Easy Mount
  • Strong & highly dependable
Cons:
  • nothing - it is about perfect for its purpose
Best Used for:
  • Scopes on AR platforms

Really works well

by kFish, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on May 4, 2018
I have 2 AR type rifles, both with only optic sights. I feel both work better for me with the optic raised up a little on a riser like this. On my first rifle I used a riser about this height, that uses wing-nut type fasteners. It does the job, but required using thread lock to keep the riser from loosening and falling off after 75-100 rounds fired. I bought this for the 2nd rifle, and it holds tight using the spring-lock, and yet its easily removed. This means I can keep the red-dot mounted permanently to this riser, and snap the riser on when i want to shoot, then remove it for storage and cleaning of the rifle. It seems to hold zero fine each time I remove it and put it back. This one costs more than double the screw-on one, but if I did not already own that other one, I would buy a 2nd one of these. I may do that anyway. It is solidly made, and locks on well each time I put it back. If I end up getting a scope or other optic, I would get an other one of these so I could easily swap from red-dot to scope or something like that.

Review of Kinetic development group Sidelok universal scope riser.

by Jeff, from MN, United States Written on March 7, 2018
I first ordered the Kinetic sidelok about a year ago .l have ordered 2 more sence. They are great I would recommend them to any one. Makes it easy to change from red dot to scope also change scope from one rifle to another. When changing scope on same rifle they don't change point of impact. The construction of the sidelok is vary good quality. I will more than likely use them on more of my rifles. I would like to see them make one a little longer for some longer scopes. Great product!

Great product, wont cowitness

by Quan, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on January 10, 2018
So Im running a Eotech Xps-2 with a ggandg qd mount with this KDG riser because Im not going to be buying new optic for every gun i have. With that said, i want a lower third co-witness with my eotech and this raises it too high. The irons Im running are magpul mbus pros front and rear and the riser is too high. The qd function though makes it so fast to take off though that if i had to take my optic off, i reasoned it would be nice to shave weight and just take the entire optic off and stow it away. But its a rock solid mount and even though it mounts high, the trade off is being more comfortable with less ocular strain on the neck, so i would generally recommend that tradeoff, because without a riser with an eotech you might find youself tilting the gun to be more comfortable, which is fine. But for those looking to keep the gun in the workspace, check this out.
Pros:
  • Very fast QD
  • Tactile locking system
  • makes for a more comfortable platform on the neck
Cons:
  • Too high for irons, possibly
Best Used for:
  • Keeping your head up
  • fighting strain and fatigue in the neck

Works as advertised

by OpSec, from NC, United States Written on November 4, 2017
A welcome addition to my Ruger SR-22 rifle running a Zeiss Z-Point scope. Easy on easy off holds zero. Gave proper elevation to co-witness with BUIS if desired. I enjoy the fact that there are no side levers or knobs to catch and it’s a tooless mount. It’s a cool design well thought out. Will buy another one.
Pros:
  • Holds zero
  • easy on and off
  • Rugged and reliable
Cons:
  • None

Pretty Good

by Hard to Please, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on August 7, 2017
Excellent design and execution. Extremely easy and quick on and off the pic rail almost too easy. I would prefer more solidity. But I trust no manufacturer's claims of return to zero on any QR scope mount. This is small but handled a medium large Vortex 4-12 scope with heavy steel rings on an M4 Carbine. Shooting, removing, remount produced a drop 0f 1-2 MOA in elevation. Better than I expected. Acceptable for large targets to medium range if nothing is at stake or you have low standards for accuracy. May shoot in after awhile and eliminate some of the little variation. I compare it to my US Optics $400 QR mount with integral rings on a SCAR 17 and my German Sauer swing off mounts on a Sauer 30-06 bolt action, both perfection in machining. Both are superior to this and still require checking zero. I accept absolutely no zero shift but how hard is adjusting zero? Not very. For the price this is a very handy mount.
Pros:
  • quick and reasonably priced
Cons:
  • just a little short of perfect
Best Used for:
  • lighter optics and calibers, any pic rail accessory
