Brian M's Review of Knight's Armament M-Lok Surefire Scout Light Mount Assembly

Let me say that this is a nicely made piece of kit. However I can't recommend it to anyone because of what I consider a significant design flaw. This piece is meant to install on the 9-o'clock mlok position for a right-handed shooter to activate the light mainly using the tail cap. However, it has been designed such that it places the scout light too low. The problem is that this makes it impossible to use a QD sling swivel at the forward QD attachment point which is standard on many if not most modern rails. The swivel hits the scout light body and can't be installed or uninstalled, therefore you can only use the aft QD, or come up with a different solution like a UWL sling loop, which you shouldn't have to do. It would be a good piece, but needs to be redesigned ASAP to work with QD sling mounts at the forward position. When doing so they also need to verify it'll work with a dbal, since space is tight up there with sling mount, scout mount, front sight, and dbal.
Pros:
  • nicely made
Cons:
  • Prevents forward QD sling use
