KDude's Review of KNS Precision M16 Non-Rotating Sear Pin

I'm a gunsmith. I always appreciated the KNS Precision anti walk\roll pins. I like em for assurance of proper function, and the way they look. The cost is a small price to pay. Never had occasion to try the sear pin. Finally did when a client with the right gun wanted to try it. Lot's of reviews about this sear pin talk about the product not fitting correctly on their guns. I was careful to take measurements and ensure the gun was correct before making the order. The fit was precise, if not tight. Some effort is required to push the take down pin all the way home. And then a tap from a plastic mallet, or in my case a plastic screwdriver handle that kind of snaps it fully into position. Also a takedown pin pusher, and another slight tap is needed to push the pin out. There is a spring pin slot that catches the stainless sear pin and holds it in place at least as well as the original. But any further prevention of walk, as well as roll is accomplished with the engagement of the takedown pin. So it makes sense to me that it would require some effort to get everything in place. The sear itself does not exhibit any undue stiffness. It moves freely. The gun fires semi auto, and full, and the selector determines the mode of fire as intended. In final analysis I'd say the gun is all the more reliable, and will remain that way longer as a result of adding this product. I'd buy it again, and will recommend it. Only thing is to make sure the gun you buy it for is in spec.
Pros:
  • Works as advertised
Cons:
  • None as long as it's used for an in spec gun.
Best Used for:
  • Making your auto sear gun more reliable and stronger
