Creighton's Review of Kowa TSN-553 15-45x Spotting Scope
This is around the 8th spotting scope I've owned, always in search of the perfect backpacking scope, and I've finally found it. I've owned a bunch of different brands in the past, but this is by far the best.
This weighs less than lots of binoculars out there.
This scope performs phenomenally in low light situations (which was surprising, given it's a 55 mm objective).
This scope is as clear as anything I've ever looked through.
I pair this scope with my iPhone with a phoneskope adapter and it's great for taking video.
One tip - kowa's neoprene case is really expensive. I found that neoprene cases made for the vortex razor 11-33 x 50mm also fit this scope, which saved me like $70.

- Magnification stops at 45x, which is understandable given this is a smaller scope
Best Used for:
- Ounce counters who don't want to give up performance
