I purchased this after peering through all of the 65mm class scopes that I could get my hands on. It is everything that I needed without the high price. I took it to Montana and I never felt undergunned looking for elk and deer miles off, even in the darkest minutes before and after sun rise and set. I compared it to two Swarovski 80mm scopes (non-HD), a 65mm Zeiss Diascope (10 years old) and a 60mm Nikon Fieldscope ED. At dusk, the nikon died first, followed by the Zeiss. The Swaro's and my Kowa were useable right up to the end. I was more than pleased, and quite surprised with this performance.
