I’m a big fan of the La Spirtiva Mutant shoe and use it as a scrambling, light mountaineering shoe. The Cyklon takes this up a notch for later season antics. Really like the higher booty fit that is wonderful at keeping out scree and small pointy things. The sole is the same as the mutant which has the right amount of grip, lug depth, and can even smear a bit when needed. I’m familiar with the Boa system from snowboard boots and it’s a welcome addition here.
Pros:
- high bootie, fit, excellent sole
Cons:
- difficult to get into at first, runs warm
Best Used for:
- trail running, scrambling, light mountaineering
