JW's Review of LAG Tactical Defender Holsters

Please forgive the length of this review if it is too much for you. I tend to be a stickler and I love being an informed buyer. Because of that, I like to make you informed as well.

I've officially worn the LAG Tactical Defender IWB for 12+ hours a day for the last 4 days. I have it fitted for the G19 as to save money for my initial purchase, I got the G19 for both my G19 and my G26. I will likely purchase the G26 it's own holster later on, but for the budget minded, the one holster will work for both.

The Good
Initial Impressions:
Extremely well made with attention to detail. The kydex is contoured to hug your body. I had concerns about an all kydex holster not being comfortable. I was wrong. There's not a sharp edge anywhere on the holster. I can't say the same for some crude gun show specials I've seen out there. No knock to the little guy, but those are usually $20-$30 and you get what you pay for.

Sweat Guard - I opted for a full sweat guard on mine. It makes the kydex go up to cover the entire slide so it is not pushed against your body. This will aid in fighting corrosion, a likely non issue for a Glock but I opted for it and am glad I did.

Smooth - I can't say enough how smooth this is. Everything is buffed and smoothed out and there isn't a sharp edge anywhere to be found. It's quite obvious this was lovingly crafted by hand.

Flared Kydex - The holster has flared out lips at the top where the gun inserts into the holster. This allows for easy smooth reholstering. The primary reason I went all kydex is because my old hybrid holster's leather used to collapse into the kydex half shell with no firearm in it. Reholstering was on the dangerous side and didn't instill me with any confidence. I can safely reholster with the Defender one handed all day long without fear or issues.

Suggestions for Improvement
Plastic Clips Upgraded to Metal Clips - This is purely me and I have no examples of plastic clips failing, but the belt clips are injection molded plastic, I assume the same kydex material as the holster. While I would absolutely prefer metal clips, LAG Tactical has been around a while and if the plastic clips were failing all over the place, they surely would've replaced them with metal by now. Likely a non issue, but possibly an aesthetic issue for some.

Open Bottom - I picked up the holster for the G19 because it would also seat the G26. I honestly would prefer the bottom of the holster to be open a bit so that when I have my G26 seated in it, there's not that inch or so of empty kydex shell on the end. Again, just a suggestion. The holster is fantastic, but it would allow me to use the holster for both without having that empty inch or so on the end.

It's a great holster with a steady turnaround time (2 weeks production time). I love the purchase and have no regrets. I'm a big believer in buy once, cry once. Time will tell if the plastic clips will hold up to the test of time, but again. If the clips were a common fail point, I'm sure LAG Tactical would've replaced them with metal by now.

Coming from a guy that thought I wouldn't be able to comfortably conceal, Both my G19 and my G26 simply disappear and I can easily forget it's there.

I will likely still purchase the G26 it's own holster but I'm at a toss up to get another Defender for it or if I want to go for their single clip option, The Liberator.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps you with your purchase. Stay safe out there!
