Some good, some bad - Steiner DBAL-A3 Green Laser Devices w/ IR Pointer and IR Illuminator

I've had my A3 for a couple years now and I've got to say, it's not usable past about 100 yards at night. Specifically, the IR illuminator is about the same brightness as the laser itself which as you might imagine... makes finding the pointer at distance difficult in the field of the illuminator. The illuminator itself is usable out to 200ish yards but you cannot PID & find the pointer. This would be easily remedied by allowing diffusion of the illuminator.

As far as the visible laser, I've got zero complaints. It's bright.
