gareybit's Review of Laserlyte V-Mag Grip Red Laser - NAA .22 Magnum NAA-VC

I installed this Laser Sight on my NAA .22 Mag pistol. The installation is simple and straightforward. Light seems to function well. The grip button works well and is an easy to use grip switch.

That being said, the batteries that shipped in the sight stopped working while I was sighting in the unit. New batteries are supplied, so easy fix..... well that was my thought. When I began to unscrew the cap to replace the lights I immediately found that the screw head in the cap was very shallow, infact it took me three straight screw driver for one to find a bite in the slot that I could actually turn the cap to replace the batteries. I then found that the cap was extremely hard to turn. In the process the cap being soft metal began to strip out the slot. I after a lot of effort got the cap off. I then noticed that the small O rign which was suppose to be on the cap had caught in the edge of the seem at the top of the screw threads and the edge of the battery compartment, which made the cap nearly impossible to unscrew.

At this point I replaced the old batteries with new and then found that after placing the O ring back on the cap that seating the cap into the screw threads was almost impossible. I found that I did not have enough slot left in the cap to hold a screw driver firmly enough to replace the cap and get the threads to seat properly. After must frustration, I used a dremel tool to make a deeper slot in the cap to allow me to replace the cap. At this point I can say that I probably will not be able to replace the batteries in the future due to the condition of the slot in the cap. The slotted cap is very weak when it comes to unscrewing it. This may have began with the fact that the O ring was not seated properly when first assembled and then the slot was too weak an area to get it to unscrew. Just my one and only problem with the sight.
