Legacy Reviewer's Review of LaserLyte Rear Sight Laser For Ruger SR-9

The LaserLyte gun sight replaces the standard rear sight on the Ruger SR9C. You remove the standard sight, and replace it with the laser sight. The dovetail slot machined into the weapon for the rear sight is a little too tight, or the LaserLyte was made slightly too tight to install into the dovetail slot. There is a small brass punch provided to drive the laserLyte into the slot. It required a little too much force to get the LasetLyte into the slot for my taste. There is a setscrew on both the original rear sight as well as the LaserLyte to keep the rear sight from moving out of adjustment. After installing the LaserLyte, I doubt that it would EVER move, even it I had not tightened the set screw.

If I ever am in a situation that I HAVE to use the iron sights on this weapon because the laser fails to work: I wish LaserLyte would have provided white "dots" on the rear iron sights instead of the larger "U" shaped white line. I find it easier to line up three "dots" rather than one dot and a line under and along both sides of the dot on the front sight blade. Just my preference I guess, and what I have become used to. If I had been using this style of sight all along, I probably would prefer it over the three dots!
Pros: The BEST place to mount a laser
Cons: Pretty tight fit into the dovetail rear sight slot on the weapon
