Legacy Reviewer's Review of Leapers 1-4X24 30mm Rifle Scopes w/ QD Rings

As a firearms Instructor, I tend to go through both guns and optics at a much higher rate than most. I decided to try this scope for one of my loaner AR's after seeing one at a gun show.

The scope has an amazing clarity, when considering it's pricepoint. It's even more striking.
The one downside is the slight fishbowl effect at 1x mag. but it is not large enough to create an actual problem. It disappears as soon as the magnification is turned up.

Using a target with clear 0.5 MOA squares and a machine rest. I was able to confirm that the clicks are accurate. They are not as crisp as a high end optic, but tactile and defined enough to be user friendly.

The scope has a long eye-relief, and in conjunction with that, it has a short space in the front of the tube to put the mount on, To set this scope up properly, requires that you either have a solid top rail mounted on your front, or that you use an offset mount. Placing it on the Upper Reciever of an AR only, will result in the scope being set too far back.

The mounts are only 10mm in saddle height. So you cannot clear a flip up iron sight underneath it. It also makes the scope sit a little low for my personal preference, But the QD Mounts are easy to set up, and sturdy enough to take a beating.

The Leapers 30mm offset mount would have been a better inclusion in the package.

The test gun zeroed with 3 rounds, and held zero through 250 rounds of mixed style shooting.

The Reticle is very easy to pick up, and intuitive for fast shooting. The generous eye relief distance and a margin of 1.2 inches makes the scope very forgiving for speed drills.

I would recommend this to anyone. It is a scope that has the ability to match performance with much higher priced items.

Pros: Clear, well thought out, great reticle
Cons: mouting options
