Tactical vest - UTG Pro 547 Law Enforcement Tactical Vest

Bought this unit at my wife's request for her. She was looking for something to carry her Scorpion Evo 30 round mags and her pistol mags. The vest seems well built as the seams are tight and double stitched. Velcro is the heavy very stiff type for durability. Design is well laid out and main pouches can each hold either 2-M4 30rd mags or 2-Evo 30rd mags as they are compression fit. There is a slip pocket on the back of the vest you can put a camelback bladder in, but we're going to use the multiple molle style webbing on the back to attach a camelback since it's material is more abrasion resistant. The pistol holster is held in place by Velcro and 1" straps which the pictures don't show. Ok, that's what we like.

Here's what we don't like. Though the unit is designed as a one size fits all, it does have limitations. I'm 6.0' and XL and the vest would fit me but not my taller, bigger friend. On the flip side, my wife is a M at 5'6" and while the vest does compress in the chest the design isn't ideal to shorten the torso. It has Velcro tabs on the shoulders to take up slack but the unit kinks up under that Velcro since loosening the Velcro does not separate the vest into front and back like the original OTVs or Plate Carriers. That design flaw could be easily fixed at the factory or one could cut the material so it would lay flat under the Velcro which is what we're likely going to do. Color options for lefties is limiting in availability. Lastly, the drag handle on the back is junk. It will break on you. Needs reinforcement with a heavier material which is what we're going to also do.

Overall, not a bad unit for the price. A few mods and it would get 5 stars instead of our 4.
