Keith's Review of Leapers UTG Law Enforcement Horizontal Shoulder Holster
With this first shoulder holster I was looking forward to carrying the full framed 4" compact pistol that was too "printy" and heavy to carry IWB. After a couple hours of readjusting the straps that suspend the holster, counter balancing with the mag carrier, stabilizing with the belt straps, I couldn't get the pistol to just stay level. It always lets the barrel swing up, the grip down, pulling the shoulder pad and harness forward and down. The strap in the back behind the barrel goes slack regardless of length. The holster itself and the dual mag carrier fits great. I just can't find a combination that doesn't "ride" crooked under the arm or across the shoulders.
The front strap that is sewn even with the trigger is too far forward on this pistol, allowing the weight of the loaded grip to pull down and rock the barrel up when the holster is on that shoulder yoke. It's possible that relocating the front strap back over the slide/frame an inch or so would work, but I don't understand the physics of suspended weights or have any sewing skills to try that. It just doesn't work comfortably for me.
The overall material choices are fine, light, smooth feeling, construction very solid. Maybe the vertical model would suit me better and stay in place?
