Guy's Review of UTG Pro Shooter's Bipods
Was looking for a decent, but budget conscious bipod that fits on the AR15 rail. The UTG was a good choice in the lower price range. While I do recommend this device, it does have a few con's that you should be aware of. When extended, the legs have some wiggle or play, which makes for a slightly unsteady support. As a result of the play in the legs, I do have some concerns about the long-term durability of the unit. It's perfectly fine for weekend shooting at the range, etc., but I have to wonder about extended usage in a SHTF scenario. Will likely upgrade to a high quality unit in the next year or two. The second concern is that it is heavy. I am becoming very weight conscious of my AR. Between the Eotech 512, a front grip, a full mag, and a foregrip, it is getting pretty heavy and is very heavily weighted towards the front, which make free-hand shooting more of a challenge the longer you have to have the gun shouldered. Yes, I am a middle-aged guy, so I'm not as strong as I used to be, so it is a consideration.
In spite of the above, it has it's good points as well. The legs are simple to deploy and to extend. The unit was incredibly simple to install. The also unit comes with a swivel stud mount in case I want to put it on my hunting rifle. Lastly, and most obviously, it is inexpensive.
