Fits perfect over my S&W AR15 front mounted site. Gives me a lot of options for attachments. The rail fits over the front site and extends about 2 inches past it. I had it put on by a gunsmith because I have a broken wrist. He told me that it was not difficult( note, he is a gun smith),so not sure how difficult it would have been for me.
