Legacy Reviewer's Review of Leatherman Crater C33T Folding Knife w/Screwdrivers

If you don't need or want pliers, this may be the best pocket knife ever.
I had an older version and lost it. The new version is lighter in weight, but still a little heavy for a pocket knife. I carried the old one every day for 3 years, so it doesn't bother me. The Blade Launcher lever works. With your forefinger, the blade can be flipped out to locked position instantly, once you have the knife properly positioned in your hand. It's been improved from the version on my old knife. It's not a steep learning curve and you'll get it after two or three attempts. The blade holds an edge pretty good, but it requires a little touch-up every couple weeks. I use my knives on all sorts of materials every day, so that's not surprising. The beauty part is the full size phillips screwdriver, not one of the flat-crap units on other knives. I'm in residential remodelling and use the screwdrivers all the time. I did file the straight screwdriver blade down a little in order to accomadate the screws on an electric wall switch cover plate (the slots on those screws are rather thin and narrow). I bought one with a straight blade and one with a 1/2 serrated blade because I've never used a serrated pocket knife and wanted to try one. Since purchasing these knives, I found my old one. Also, after only a couple weeks, I've switched to a Leatherman Skeletool CX because the size and weight aren't much more than the C33 knives and the Skeletool offers the huge advantage of pliers and wire cutter. Very helpful on a jobsite or just out riding my motorcycles. I still like the knives, but the Skeletool is the bomb if you don't mind a little more (just barely) size and weight.

Pros: Genuine phillips screwdriver
