I was happy enough with the original, but... wow! - Leatherman Signal Multi-Tool

The original Leatherman was so good that I bought one, and later received one as a gift at work. Having two was good, as I've been accustomed to having it on my belt, unnoticed except by TSA at airport screenings, so when I noticed after a terminal check-in, I gave it to an airline agent to give someone for Christmas. This Signal in the crimson and black oxide finishes is elegant! It took me some time to read the little book and check out the blade lock functions, and more. Dad wasn't taken with my original ("Jack of all trades, master of none.") at first, but it came in handy working on the outboard engine on a Montana river. As the original was designed, it's not the tool you want working in the shop, the unobtrusive and lightweight tools that stay with you, available when you need them. Survival gear, as what you wear is what you can count on.
