Since the zoom is slaved to the range (once you have it set-up and tweaked), when you dial in focus, you automatically dial in the bullet drop compensation. This is very good for a novice that needs the practice in looking at a target and knowing what range that target is, or for a hunter that may not have a lot of time for adjustments to make a shot. You just rotate the dial till your target is in focus and take the shot. On the down side, for know distance target shooting, you cannot zoom in for that accurate shot, since you'll be changing the bullet drop compensation at the same time. But the scope does what it's supposed to do and is a good tool for a hunter or a novice that needs help estimating ranges. Which is what the US Army sniper school used this scope for in the first place.
Pros: Good for hunting
Cons: Not good for known distance target
