I spent a lot of time on the forums and everyone said this is the range finder to have, it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I'm glad I did. It works exactly as advertised. It is very simple, there is only one button, push it once and a small red square reticle appears, push it again and it tells you how far away the object in the reticle is. Measuring distances of trees, houses, cars, or any large object up to 1200 yards is effortless. In ideal conditions I have got readings up to 1370 yards. Smaller or less reflective objects are a little harder to get a reading on, rolling dry grass hills are easy up to about 800 yards, humans are easy up to about 700 yards. I haven't seen any deer with this range finder ( I don't hunt anything but paper targets at long distance ) so I can't really say how far out you could range a deer. From what I understand deers fur is pretty non reflective, so I imagine it is probably 500-600 yards or so. The ability to find range through obstacles is phenomenal, you can look through a small opening in a tree and if the reticle fits through the opening you will get a reading. Bottom line - I cant image anyone being displeased with this range finder, it is fantastic.
