Alxzdr's Review of Leupold Alumina Flipback Lens Cover
I bought these for a Leupold MK4 HD 8-32x56 rifle scope. The rear cap mounts easily, closes securely via magnets and a latch, and opens quickly. The front cap doesn't use the same latching mechanism as the rear cap, magnets only, so it doesn't stay closed as securely as the rear cap. Depending on your setup you may have to remove your scope base to thread the front (objective) cap onto the scope as I did. These caps aren't cheap, but they're better than elastic bikini-style scope caps my Leupold came with.
Pros:
- Quicker, easier to use than bikini caps.
- Better aesthetics than elastic bikini caps.
- Sturdy build quality.
Cons:
- overpriced.
- Should've been included given the cost of the MK4 HD.
- Front scope cover doesn't stay shut as securely as rear.
Best Used for:
- Good for range days, PRS matches and hunting. Okay for military, LE. Weak front cap latch can be a potential liability in high risk situations.
