Clear glad - Leupold Hawthorne 7x42mm Binocular

I just took these binoculars out on a western elk hunt and they impressed me very much. They are extremely clear glass with a really incredible depth of field. I compared these to a pair of Leica Trinova and they seemed very close in clarity. The lens caps and eye cup are a little under build, but I am willing to deal with that due to the outstanding optic build. I could not see needing a better glass for a hunting binocular. These 7x42 are easy to hold steady and gather so much light I was able to use them after dark to find the truck on the way back from the hunt. I would say they have about a 3/4's sweet spot in the lens. They are very easy to focus due to the large depth of field. I have always liked my Leupold scopes and wanted to try a pair of there binoculars. These are the Leupolds only 7x42's that are made in Japan, the rest of there binocular line is made in China. I don't know how much it makes a difference, but my Toyota is still running strong and it is an 87. Incredible Binoculars for the price.
