Leupold figured it out... - Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40mm Rifle Scope

buzz's Review of Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40mm Rifle Scope
Leupold figured out that they don't compete well with the $2000 optics available from others. So they went back to the drawing board and made a scope that indexes well, comes with practical (CDS) options, and in a variety of reticles. No it isn't a first focal plane optic, and it isn't priced as one either. It is a solid hunting scope built for a solid hunting rifle at a reasonable price. With budget hunting rifles (under $1k) on the market that are shooting sub-moa, it is imperative that a line of scopes be offered that matches that precision and price point.
The only reason why this isn't a 5 star scope is that it simply isn't in competition with the finest scopes out there. I believe it to be the best value scope ever. Given their means of manufacture (lenses outsourced to china - same as every other scope) and its being a second focal plane scope, it just isn't high end, but that doesn't mean that it won't put meat in your freezer with every crack of your rifle. Hunting is about how I place my shot, not how my optics perform. Leupold took the variables out of the equation with the VX3i line of optics.
Pros:
Price
Indexes well
Guaranteed
American Company
Name Recognition
Options (CDS)
Cons:
1" tube
First Focal Plane
Outsourced Glass
Best Used for:
Accurate Hunting Rifles
