I have just finished mounting a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 to my Savage Axis .308 with the medium height STD rings and bases combo in matte black and it looks really nice!
These parts are steel and are smoothly finished. Installation was easy enough between the Leupold STD YouTube video and the directions supplied in the package. A wooden toilet plunger handle works well.
I haven't yet had the chance to shoot the rifle yet, but after handling and installing them, I am confident that these rings and bases are more than up to the task of holding my scope at a good zero so that I never have to think about scope rings or bases.
