Worth the money? - Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14x40mm Rifle Scope, 1in Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

This was my first purchase of a new Leupold scope, though I have a couple of second-hand. The Vx3-HD 4.5-14x40 1" SFP is pretty good. Image quality is good. Controls are smooth. The zoom ring knob is very nice.

But the price (even on sale)... No, it isn't worth the price. I could have purchased 2 Vortex scopes for the same amount, and had left for ammo.

I'm not disappointed, but I'll stick to buying Leupold scope used.
