Jer's Review of Live Free Armory Completed LF19 Raptor Slide with RMR Cut

*Long review, but it's been a long process with this thing that I think warrants explanation*

I thought that this was going to be a good budget friendly pre-assembled slide for my Glock 19 build, but unfortunately turned out to be out of spec. Either the barrel or the front of the slide was off, and it managed to break 3 different front sights. The barrel was hitting the front sight screw during cycling, or at least that's the best theory myself and some others can come up with.

The installed front sight broke off the very first range trip I took the slide to. I wasn't too bothered, because I was planning on replacing it with trijicon night sights anyway. Once I installed the trijicon's, I took it the the range again, and the front sight worked its way loose. Figured it was user error and maybe I didn't put enough (or maybe too much) loctite on. Re-installed, took it to the range again, and a few magazines in I noticed that the front sight was missing. I found the hexagonal screw head on the bench, which had been sheared off of the screw. Couldn't find the actual front sight. Got a replacement front sight from Trijicon, thinking that maybe it was the front sight being out of spec or something that I managed to mess up during install. Took it to the range, 2 mags in and the front sight was loose again. Brought the slide to a local gunsmith, who couldn't find anything wrong with it. He took the front sight off, cleaned it, loctited it, reinstalled. Brought it to the range a few days later, same deal. Loose sight after only a few magazines. Took it to another gunsmith, who did the same thing as the other gunsmith. There was a noticeable wear mark (front to back) along the screw head, and some light wear on the barrel. We couldn't tell if that was from the slide or from hitting the screw. Took it to the range a few days later, and after two (2) rounds, the front sight had broken off. The hexagonal screw head had been sheared off, just like the first time. I found the actual front sight this time, and the threaded part of the screw is still inside the front sight. Currently waiting on LFA to get back to me for warranty/refund information. I've already ordered a stripped slide from another company, and OEM slide kit and OEM barrel.

TLDR; Broke 3 separate sights, the last of which had been installed by a gunsmith. I can't recommend something that is so far out of spec that it literally breaks other things on the gun. Also, it wasn't spectacularly accurate. I won't claim to be anything more than average when it comes to pistol accuracy, but no one who shot the gun could get it dialed in. Granted, I probably didn't even get through the break in period before it chewed through all three sights.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • out of spec
  • Innacurate
  • broke 3 different front sight
Would Recommend: No
