Blackhorse's Review of Lone Wolf Arms Glock 21 .45 ACP Threaded Barrel, .578x28

Ok, to start out with I am not a glock fan. However, as a deputy sheriff my weapon of choice was not permitted. So I opted for the Glock for the cheap price. Started out with a Glock 23 in 40 S&W, which is probably the worst performing pistol cartridge in history, and as soon as Glock came out with the 21SF, I went with that. I recently purchased a silencer, but none of my many 45 caliber pistols had a threaded barrel and this one had the best reviews and was a decent price, so I went with it. I have to say, this barrel will outperform any glock 45 barrel on the market today. It is most certainly a much better quality than Glock. I love the fact that the entire cartridge is fully supported. As I reload, I like to reuse my brass as many times as I can. Not having to worry about that bulge at the back of the case is quite comforting. Accuracy with range fodder certainly has improved. Using with a silencer, a standard 230 gr RN ammo is pretty darn quiet. But reduced loads I have worked up to ensure the slide functions correctly, almost completely noiseless. Yeah, you can hear the slide movement, and all, but the biggest noise you hear is the sound of the bullet wacking the target. I'm running a Banish 45 silencer and the night sights I have on the G21 and a little too low. I'm considering either getting new taller sights or possibly getting an aftermarket slide that been milled for an optic. But I'm still not a glock fan, and having trouble convincing myself to spend the money to upgrade a glock. The barrel adds little to no weight to the pistol, but with the silencer it does put some weight up front. However, I was quite surprised at the reduction in felt recoil with the silencer on it. This barrel is very much worth the cost.
Pros:
  • Fully Supported cartridge
  • Threads are a perfect cut
Cons:
  • None that I'm aware of
Best Used for:
  • Increasing accuracy
  • Silencers
  • Options of using Lead bullets
Would Recommend: Yes
