Travis's Review of Lucid Optics HD7 Gen III 1x34mm Reflex Red Dot Sight

I will be honest...I was worried after I ordered my HD7. I read some negative reviews about returns to Lucid and prayed for no issues. To be clear, I was not worried about returning within 30 days to OP as this is not an issue. And then I received my HD7 for my M&P 15-22 and couldn't be happier. This thing is built like a tank and mounting was extremely easy. I hand tightened the mounting nuts and the sight does not budge, at all. The auto brightness feature is very nice, it changes on the fly with light changes where some others I have used there is a slight delay. The glass is amazingly clear and the reticles, to me, were very, very crisp and defined. Again, for me, the FOV was great despite the 21mm ocular lens. I could easily get on target with both eyes open and see my surroundings clearly. The weight is not bad as I mounted the optic over the center of my rifle (above mag well and discharge port) and it is very well balanced. I'm not sure about reports of lower 1/3 co-witness as with my 15-22 I have absolute co-witness with front and rear Magpul BUIS. This was not an issue for me and works out well. I would definitely recommend a lithium battery (I bought Energizer Advanced Lithium), and this is why. I read some reviews about battery corrosion and how this is not covered by Lucid's warranty, though I agree with founder Jason Wilson that it should not be because this is not an optic issue. However, Energizer's lithium batteries are guaranteed not to leak, and if they do Energizer will replace the device that was ruined by the leak! The only thing I can not attest to is longevity/durability of this optic as I just received it!

  • Solid mount
Cons:
  • None
