Lunger's Review of Lucid Optics HD7 Gen III 1x34mm Reflex Red Dot Sight
This red dot has a nice feel to it.
Pros:
1. POA stays the same when cycling through reticles
2. 2 MOA dot allows for more accurate long range shooting
3. More robust construction than others in the same price range
4. Can use 1/3 co-witness sights
5. Auto light detection works rather well (at least so far)
6. Reticles are clear and crisp (unless you have a stigmatism or are in bright sunlight)
Cons:
1. Less than favorable field of view (but manageable)
2. Accessories are all but a joke and merely a waste of money!
3. Bright sunlight conditions wash reticle out to the point you can't tell unit is even on - making unit worthless, both in auto and manual mode (therefore, if you live in the South and shoot only outdoors in mid day sun don't buy)
4. Known for corroding and ruining unit if lithium batteries are not used and are left in unit for any length of time (which is not covered under warranty)
5. Rather large for a fixed magnification sight - the accessory magnifiers suck so I say fixed
For what I use this sight for it performs quite well. Just wish it had better field of view and could be usable in bright sunlight without having to resort to the 1/3 co-witness iron sights. Do I feel I got my money's worth on this? Yes I do! Would I recommend this sight? I would if they were willing to look at this as a compromise between the pros and cons. Is this the best red dot out there? No, but for the price it is acceptable.
