No 1st hand knowledge of this [hence the neutral 3* rating], but 750 nanometers is within normal human visual range, so I'm not sure how this is IR?
Granted, this is a *laser* illuminator, so the fact that you aren't going to get any off axis spill may have something to do with other users not realizing it's not really IR and posting about it in their reviews, but colour me confuzzled as to how this unit gets advertised as "IR."
