The stock itself is amazing. It's the free-floating meaning it doesn't touch the barrel which is great. The instructions for install are simple and include the torque settings and hardware. Out on the range it performs great, especially in ergonomics it's miles better than the Ruger OEM stock. But I do take issue with the fact that the box clearly stated at one point it came with the Mag. But beside it there's a sticker saying Mag Sold separate I have a photo of this but the review system won't let me include photos. Previous reviews said it came with the mag. This will not be so bad if the price of the stock decreased with this change but it's the price is the same and that mag is 35-40 dollars. So I paid the same for less along with my rifle being inoperable while I try to find a mag for it which isn't kept in stock locally. It does have QD attachment hole on the back but requires separate hardware which is not included...

Purchased this as a replacement to standard stock for Ruger American Ranch chambered in 7.62x39. The Magpul stock has more defined shapes, is less rounded and comes with QD mounts for sling options as well as mlok mounting options for bipods, lights or any other accessories you might want to add to your rifle.

Also found a great option to broaden the various magazines that it can take. Firecastle Customs makes magwells to replace the stock. Otherwise, the Magpul only takes AICS mags, which 7.62x39 have a problem. Adding that to the Magpul Hunter enables me to run 5/10/20/30 round PMAGs. This is helpful especially for hunting to only need a 5 round mag.

The standard mini 30 mags run fine but I wanted something more aligned with hunting needs. Hope this was helpful!

Just purchased a new Magpul American Hunter stock for my Ruger 308 through Optics Planet. Fantastic deal($150-), easy drop in install,took about 15 minutes. The stock is far more rigid than the original, which means far heavier as well. It's a fantastic stock though, with a great Pistol grip, high(adjustable)cheek riser, and an adjustable length of pull as well. Really can't beat the deal through Optics Planet, I would highly recommend this product.

Magpul stocks greatly improved the Ruger American rifles!

Magpul makes a fine stock! I replaced the stock on my Ruger American, this was a very easy job and a great improvement!

While the factory stock was okay, it left a lot to be desired. I was deciding between this stock and the mdt field stock but ultimately decided on this one due the current price that Optics Planet had it for at the time. I do not regret it one bit. The ergonomics and feel are significantly improved. It definitely does add some weight but IMO it’s good weight. Everything required to install came in the box as well as a 5 round magazine and install was super easy. Optics planet shipped super fast. Highly recommend!

I have a Magpul Hunter stock on a Savage 110, and the stock is great, so I decided to try one on my Ruger American. I can't say enough about the stock, the great price and the fast shipping by Optics Planet.

Was easy to install rifle into this stock. Improved accuracy and handling characteristics as well.
