I got the L4 7 slot for my Magpul Hunter stock. The screws are a perfect fit on the edges of the opening. If you do not remove the 700 action and barrel then you need to use tie-wraps, like the ones you use on bread bags at the grocery store. Tie it twice around the metal mount of the rail and have two long ends of the tie. Then move the mount in the hole, and then hold the two ends of the tie around the stock. This will hold the mount in place to install the screws and rail. Do not tighten so you can remove the tie.
