Freeway Frank's Review of Marbles Surgical Stainless Cleaver
Made in Pakistan from surgical steel, this cleaver
is beautifully wrought. Sharp right out of the box,
the handle is made the old fashioned way with
compressed rings of multi-colored leather and
finished off with a piece of enlarged, smoothed bone
or antler that ensures a good grip and serves as an
excellent pommel. There is a brass finger guard that
prevents the hand from slipping forward onto the blade
and a hole at the top of the blade to assist in
removing a blade that gets stuck in a bone. It is inexpensive
and of course I ordered two, on for each hand.
Comes with a nice belt sheath. I guess one could
actually use it for chopping food items, but I will keep them
nearby for close range self defense.
