CAGunGuy's Review of Matrix Arms MX19 Glock 19 Gen 3 Freedom Fighter Pistol Slide
I purchased the Matrix Arms MX19 Glock 19 Gen 3 Freedom Fighter Pistol Slide for my Gen 3 Glock 19, ensuring it was the correct slide for my firearm. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory, and I feel compelled to share my issues for anyone considering this product.
Issues with Functionality
Extractor Depressor Plunger Channel:
The slide appears to have a dimensional or tolerance mismatch in the channel where the extractor depressor plunger sits. While the plunger fits physically, it doesn’t seat properly, leading to significant reliability issues.
During live fire, I experienced failure to extract malfunctions approximately 1 out of every 10 rounds, rendering the gun completely unreliable for any practical use.
This issue arises because the misalignment prevents proper engagement of the extractor assembly, which is critical for ejecting spent casings.
Build Quality Concerns
Heat Treatment on the Interior:
The interior of the slide shows noticeable imperfections in the heat treatment process, evidenced by rainbow-colored discoloration. While this may not directly affect performance, it raises concerns about overall quality control.
Cool-Looking Serrations, But...:
I’ll admit, the slide serrations look great and give the gun a sleek appearance. However, aesthetics mean nothing if the slide causes fundamental reliability issues.
Conclusion
The Matrix Arms MX19 slide looks good on the surface, but it falls apart where it matters most: reliability and quality control. The extractor channel issue makes the gun unsuitable for self-defense or even casual range use. Despite purchasing the correct slide for my Glock 19 Gen 3, it has made my firearm dangerously unreliable.
I highly do not recommend this slide, as it compromises the functionality of your gun. The price may be tempting, but the trade-off in reliability and quality is not worth it. Avoid this product unless you’re okay with a cool-looking slide that makes your firearm fail when it matters most.
