Griswald's Review of Maxim Defense Industries CQB Stock
I'm not trying to be unfair; however, if I could rate this product lower than 1 star ... I certainly would.
I bought my CQB stock with high hopes that it would work as well as it looks. The AR-15 I planned to put the Maxim CQB on was one that I have been using as my primary AR-15 and that functions perfectly. After the initial break in of this AR-15 I've never had a FTF or any other problem. So, I removed my existing stock and installed the CQB thinking all would be well and took off for the range.
I had a problem from the first shot I fired. I was shocked to find that my AR would not cycle with the Maxim CQB installed! I tried several different loads and that didn't make any difference. I cleaned and lubed my AR again even though it had less than 50 rounds through it since I last cleaned it. It made no difference. I cannot install an adjustable gas block on my barrel because it has the muzzle brake pinned and welded on in order to bring the barrel up to the 16" minimum legal length without having an SBR permit.
So, I looked up Maxim's website information and emailed them via their Contact Us Form explaining the problem and asking for help. After a week they had not bothered to reply to me so I emailed them again - again via their Contact Us Form. This time I waited 10 days before giving up and trying to call them. I've now called them 5 different times and have left a detailed message each time. I have never had a reply from them of any kind! This is unbelievably disappointing considering the price I paid for this stock. They should be ashamed!
Now I have an expensive piece of junk. There has to be some kind of solution to this problem as I refuse to believe that I'm the only owner who has ever had such a problem with one of their CQB stocks. But, their answer to solving customer problems is to ignore them altogether. So, again, I strongly caution anyone considering buying a Maxim CQB stock to think twice before doing so. Should you have a problem, and I hope you don't, they absolutely won't bother to call you. They apparently just don't care about taking care of customers after they've plunked down their $300+ for a stock that doesn't work.
