Clay's Review of Maxpedition ChowDown Personal Cooler - Large
Ordered this in June 2014 and it just arrived today in March 2015. The nine month wait was due to the manufacturer, and not Optics Planet. I have been using a Maxpedition Fillup Personal Cooler on the deck of my kayak for over a year now, which has held up to lots of use and works great. I wanted something larger for longer trips, and something that can handle full size beer bottles.
The ChowDown will hold up to eight bottles of beer comfortably and without having to stretch anything. That amount works with crushed ice around it, or cut down to a six pack if you want more ice on board. Decent weight when fully loaded, and rides on a shoulder comfortably.
One side note: The included bottle opener is attached to a strap, but is located on the molle webbing side and is not on the side where the elastic pouch is. I just contacted Maxpedition, and they confirmed that is where the bottle opener is now attached, so you have to tuck it in the molle webbing or let it hang.
