Legacy Reviewer's Review of Maxpedition Falcon-II Backpack
This is a very nice pack, and well worth it if you can find it around the $100 dollar mark. If you're tall, forget about using the waist belt. You'll end up looking like a grown man in a child's backpack. I'm 6'2" and I had to remove the waist belt. I was a little disappointed in some of the stitching. On the back of the bag and on the shoulder straps I saw some stitching that did not meet my expectations for something coming from Maxpedition. I also wish that the main compartment had more zippered mesh pockets, similar to the 5.11 Rush 24. To be honest, it appears to me that the 5.11 bag would have suited my needs a bit better in terms of organization. I can't speak about the 5.11's product quality as I don't own one yet, but I like the organization of the bag (minus the short pen holders). One way to overcome the grown man in a child's backpack look is to purchase the Maxpedition Proteus. This is what I did. This allows you to lengthen the bag by attaching it to the bottom of the Falcon II via Molle attachment, and use the Proteus' waist belt as the primary waist belt. This also gives you another compartment to organize your gear. I used this space to store my first aid supplies. Just consider, after purchasing the Proteus, you'll be set back at least $150 depending on how good of a deal finder you are. I love my Maxpedtition Falcon II, I just think you should consider exactly what you're looking for in a backpack before making the purchase.
Pros: Durable, color choices, organization, molle
Cons: waist belt, some poor stitching/quality control
