16" lightbridge is more than i hoped for - Meade 16in. LightBridge f/4.5 Truss-Tube Dobsonian Telescope

Green Eggs's Review of Meade 16in. LightBridge f/4.5 Truss-Tube Dobsonian Telescope
I have wanted a telescope since I saw Haley's comet last century and the cost has always kept me from taking the plunge. I decided that it was time for a life change and I am so glad that I did it. The telescope is perfect for me; I need the big light gathering ability that this telescope offers because I live in the city and realistically I will not make it to dark sites very often. My kids and I have already enjoyed seeing the moon, the rings of Saturn, Venus along with one of it's moons and many stars. One of the things that I enjoy the most about this telescope is that it's not a go to which means that both my kids and I are learning our way around the sky by learning the names and location of constellations and stars. The Lightbridge's action is very smooth and once I got the red dot finder dialed in I find it very easy to find what I'm looking for in the eyepiece. I am very happy with this scope. I would recommend going with the biggest scope you can get and keep in mind that this is a heavy scope so if you are not good shape I would recommend going with the 12". I stand mine up fully assembled in the garage with it covered to keep out dust.
Pros:
easy to use
light bucket
small footprint for storing
Cons:
Heavy scope
takes up a lot of car space when transpoting
Would Recommend:
Yes
