My favorite refractor - Meade LXD75 AR-6AT 6" Achromatic Refractor Telescope - 06087501

With a Minus V filter this scope rocks on planets. F ratio is long enough that you shouldn't need the filter on DSOs. Views blow both my 80mm APO and 102mm Achro away. LXD mount oes every bit as well as my CG5. Do buy the sfter market book on the LXD55/75 mounts. Could have come with better instruction book. With a super tune this mount can be a good starter mount for AP, BUT not with this big scope. I built a case for the scope and have the JMI case for the GEM. You will need these for taking this beat to star parties. You will want to get this LARGE scope to a dark site to see all it can show. GREAT DEAL.
