Buyer's Review of Mechanix Wear M-Pact Knit FR CR5A5 Flame Resistant Gloves - Mens

I normally wear Mechanix LMP-75-012 leather hybrid glove as an electrician. The CR5A5 glove has proven to not be as useful. I'm not sure what the FR rating they are advertising for these as the labeling does not match other garments carrying FR ratings. I imagined these being a knit glove, would be soft with excellent dexterity, not so much. The yellow knitting is soft and thicker than a standard fabric glove and I think that would be OK but the rubber coating on the palm makes it uncomfortable to grab any object smaller than 1-1/4" in diameter. The coating folds like cardboard and that edge pushes into the crease of the finger joints. It's nearly impossible to manipulate; screws, screwdrivers or an impact driver. The coating does provide great grip even in wet conditions, so moving bundles of pipe in the rain was about the only time i could stand to have the gloves on. Warming the gloves and working inside was not any better than working in the cold. You know those horrible bluish/grey leather gloves with the stiff denim cuff and square fingers, they are often given out to people who forget their gloves at a job site?.... Those are just as are an equivalent.
Pros:
  • Cat 2 fr maybe?
Cons:
  • Dexterity and working comfort
Best Used for:
  • Large material handling
